Earlier this year, Aby Dolinger issued the 2017 Pre-cut Challenge. A specific pre-cut is designated for each quarter. All you need to do is incorporate the designated pre-cut in to a quilt.
The 2nd quarter challenge was Jelly Roll. Those 2 1/2 inch strips are so addictive, rolled up and wrapped so pretty and as Aby points out, “…they simply become colorful decorations on the shelves in our sewing rooms.”
Blueberry Crisp, a collection of batik Tonga Treats is what I used to make Plum Pie. This layout is a variation of Spiral Strips (Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam & Nicky Lintott). It’s the secondary design and second border that caught my eye.
I used the scraps of the strip sets to make the second border. It wasn’t until I photographed the top that I realized the cream colored fabrics blend in to the first and third borders.
Plum Pie finished at 66″ square and will be a charity quilt.
